Today’s guest post was written by our crafty friend and freelance art director Sarah Goldschadt:
“Then: Growing up my sister and I spent all our childhood summers visiting my Dad and family in Denmark. We spent a lot of time at the summerhouse and made sure to always bring a few staples to the beach: The latest Babysitters Club book, embroidery floss to make friendship bracelets, our favorite sodavand (pop) and salty black licorice. We were 12 and 13 and made friendship bracelets like it was our job. I’d agonize over which colors to choose from and dream up new patterns in my sleep.
Now: After moving to a new apartment in the city and wanting to share my love of all things crafty, I hosted a craft night.
Ten friends made the climb to my 5th floor apartment and I taught the basics of crochet and a woven friendship personalized Bracelet. Here are instructions to make a thick woven friendship personalized Bracelet out of yarn.
4 4. In your left hand put 3 loops on your fingers starting with your pinky finger. In your right hand put 4 loops on your fingers started with your pinky finger.
5 5. With your free pointer finger on your left hand, cross over to your right hand and go through the loop on your ring finger. Grab the loop on your pinky finger and let go. (The loop will now be on your pointer finger on your left hand.) Then reposition the loops on your right hand by sliding your pinky into the ring finger slot, ring finger into the middle slot, middle finger into the pointer finger slot.
6 6. Now your pointer finger is free on your right hand. Gently pull both hands apart until you have a desired tension at the top. Now repeat the same action but this time you’ll start with your pointer finger on your right hand and cross over to the left side.
Thanks so much Sarah!
