I can’t believe how long it’s been since I produced the Tassel story for the September 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Living. It was such a rewarding experience and I had made a mental note that it would make for great gifts. Well, when my dear friend just redesigned her bathroom, I remembered the towels in the story, and decided to make them for her birthday.

She was still deciding what fabric to use for her curtains between the many choices at Les Indiennes, a company that makes the most amazing block printed textiles. I secretly ordered swatches, used them to determine my color scheme for the tassels and sewed some drawstring bags out of the swatches (you can never have enough storage). And since I know how much she loves the towels from scentsandfeel, I bought one at ABC Home to include in the mix of solid towels I was about to embellish. ABC had the perfect bag to use as packaging too. So now I only needed to make a bunch of tassels, which I love, as it is fast and portable, and by now you may know how much I love portable crafts. Instead of my go to DMC floss I usually use, I gave this new thread from Purl a try . This gift is quite personal, as I pretty much know what my friend loves, but I also think the towels would make for great hostess gifts even if you’re not so familiar with their color scheme. You can never have enough towels !
